Worldwide Mission, Nathan E. Gibson Win World Water Day Sports Meet

Gibson High School teamIn continuation of the 2019 World Water Day Football and Kickball Championship and the essay competition under the auspices of WaterAid Liberia yesterday, Worldwide Mission and Nathan E. Gibson won their respective games at the Right To Play soccer field in Paynesville.Worldwide Mission defeated Logan Town Central High 6-1 in kickball and, in football, Nathan E. Gibson beat A. T. Warner 1-0.Worldwide Mission took control of the game and managed to deny their opponents any attempt to secure points during the game. Worldwide Mission had good catchers and each of their players could kick better than their opponents.The 6-1 was a deserving one.In the football match, Nathan E. Gibson took advantage of their numerical advantage to slot in the only goal in the match in the early minutes of the game, a striker lopped the ball over their opponents’ advancing goalkeeper (he was a striker who had to be asked to be in the goal).Nathan E. Gibson held on to their lead till the end of the first half. Later when A. T. Warner received additional players who resumed the second session hope, their opponents could not be intimidated.The see-saw battle favored both teams whose goalkeepers made good saves. However, it was Nathan E. Gibson that managed to hold on to their 1-0 till the end of the game.The tournament continues today in the finals and there is a protest that the tournament’s technical committee needs to handle at 11 am before the finals are announced to be held at 1 pm today.The schools that are participating in the championships are World Wide Mission, St. Simon Baptist, Logan Town Central High, James Doe Young, Careysburg Public High School, Amos T. Warner, A.M. Fofana Islamic High School, Nathan E. Gibson, First Assembly of God, Elizabeth Tubman Memorial Institute (ETMI), E.J.
