The world premiere of MotherStruck!, written and performed by Staceyann Chin and directed by Cynthia Nixon, will no longer begin previews on September 24 at Culture Project’s Lynn Redgrave Theater. The project has been postponed indefinitely.“At this point…we do not have the resources to produce MotherStruck! in the manner in which it deserves,” said Allan Buchman, Artistic Director of Culture Project, in a statement.MotherStruck! sets forth Chin’s personal journey to motherhood as a single woman, lesbian and activist who does not have health insurance or a “serious, stable financial set up,” but wants to have a child.
