TheLearning and Skills Council is sending 1,000 managers on a leadershipdevelopment programme to instil a consistent culture across the organisation. Seniorand middle managers will embark this month on the £1m programme which willfocus on leadership, partnership working and innovation.TheLSC was formed about 18 months ago through the merger of 74 trainingorganisations, including Training and Enterprise Councils. Its role is toco-ordinate all post-16 learning.DavidRussell, HR director at the LSC, said the training programme was essential topromote the organisation’s goals and achieve government targets.”Wehave a huge mix of cultures because of the way we were formed. We need todevelop our culture as staff are all from different backgrounds. It is acomplicated organisation and the jobs are very demanding. “Weneed a consistent culture so we’re putting all senior managers through theprogramme,” he said.TheLSC has 500 staff based at its headquarters and a further 4,500 nationally. Russellhopes the course, being run by Penna, will enable the organisation’s to workmore closely with employers and providers.last_img
