first_imgA well-known author and relaxation specialist is to bring his unique techniques to Donegal.Padraig O’Morain“Learning mindfulness is an easy and pleasant experience,” says author and mindfulness teacher Padraig O’Morain who is to present a mindfulness day in Letterkenny on Saturday 25th May.Padraig is the author of “Light Mind – Mindfulness for Daily Living,” one of the few Irish books on the topic. “The practice of mindfulness has come into its own as a quickly understandable way to help people to reduce their stress and get more out of life, especially in these difficult times,” says Padraig.“Essentially, mindfulness involves returning your attention again and again to your breath, your body or whatever you are physically experiencing. Mindfulness is used in a wide range of human activity: healthcare, sports, meditation, education and in daily life.“People who bring mindfulness into their daily lives find they are less likely to be swept away by anxiety, anger or unhelpful memories. They learn to be calmly aware in the middle of a busy day.“I have taught mindfulness practices to accountants, doctors, unemployed people, counsellors, community workers, managers, trade unionists and many, many others.” The mindfulness day will be held in the Mount Errigal Hotel from 10am to 3.30pm on the 25th. The cost of attending is €50. No previous experience of mindfulness is necessary and people who already practice mindfulness will also enjoy the day.
